Never Forget. My first thought was, “The chickens have come home to roost.”
I was in a staff meeting when the first plane hit, but when I got back to the desk, my cubicle mate told me, “A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center.” A few minutes later another co-worker burst in, “Another plane just hit! We’re under attack!”
Malcolm X’s famous words were the first to cross my mind. America’s dirty deeds around the world had come back to haunt us.
But in the coming hours, days, months and years, as the facts emerged, and the coverups began, the picture became less clear, the view more murky.
Jet fuel could never cause girders to melt. It’s scientifically impossible… The buildings fell at free fall speed, and looking more like a controlled demolition, not like a plane hit the top floors… The first responders and eye witnesses heard explosions… Why did World Trade Center 7 fall? It wasn’t even hit by a plane… Military exercises training for the scenario “hijacked planes crash into US buildings” were being played on Tuesday morning, September 11th, 2001. Maybe this is why our fighter jets didn’t react more quickly to defend against the attack… Why did the Bush administration delay the investigation into the largest terror attacks in US history?
Years later we still have more questions than answers, but while I don’t know who engineered the attacks of September 11, 2001, I do not believe that a ragtag group of Islamic extremists attacked the nation by themselves. Not because they couldn’t, but because that is NOT what the evidence suggests.
Will we ever learn the truth? Who knows. But whether this was the worst case scenario – a false flag operation carried out by rogue elements in the US government – or at best, a bold attack where the largest, most expensive defense department in the world was caught with its pants down, no one has been held accountable for all the lives that were lost and the treasure that was expended in the wars that followed.
