On the Productivity in Tech Podcast, Jay Miller sits down every week to discuss productivity with people in the technology industries.
In this episode, Jay interviewed Nadir, and they discussed work/life balance, an illusive, ever-evolving concept, especially when you’re “over ambitious with time management” like musician, entrepreneur, husband and father Nadir.

It’s difficult to place Detroit-based singer songwriter, musician, engineer/producer Nadir Omowale into a box. He’s best known as an artist and performer, laying down his own unique blend of guitar-driven funk, rock and Distorted Soul. But over the past few years, the Tennessee raised multi-instrumentalist has spent much of his time engineering, producing and collaborating with talent as varied as RocNation phenomenon Mayaeni, spoken word maven jessica Care moore, indie soul stalwart Amp Fiddler, Detroit techno legends Underground Resistance, Midwest Americana queen Jill Jack and a growing client base of young rock, soul, hip hop and even country artists.
SoulTracks.com is currently the most popular soul music website in America. And from its inception in 2003, SoulTracks has been providing updates on the greatest Classic Soul artists and introducing readers to the next generation of Soul Music singers.
We are proud that they have chosen to help introducer their readers to Detroit Latin soul stirrer Caleb Gutierrez. Check out his SoulTracks.com First Listen feature HERE.

I had a fantastic time at the NAMM Show this year working with my new client, Hong Kong based music technology manufacturer Icon Global. Yes, the weather in Cali was much nicer than the chilly grey of Detroit. But I also got to hang with a bunch of old friends, and make a few new ones, all while surrounded by thousands of professionals who are passionate about music.
It was an exciting week for my client as well, highlighted by a visit from one of Michigan’s favorite sons… Check out my report HERE.
Nice… jessica Care moore dropped a video of my favorite song from the album we recorded, “Black Tea: The Legend of Jessi James“. Aside from Kris Johnson’s brilliant trumpet work, this was recorded mostly live in the Metroplex Room at Submerge on a whirlwind day of tracking. I love the groove Jon Dixon, Ben Luttermoser and Nate Winn locked into. Alicia Renee aka Blue eyes and jessica were sequestered in the vocal booth. It was a bit chaotic, but tons of fun. This was the first song we tracked, and it set the tone for the magic that would follow.
On December 19 we were honored to attend the dedication of a serape mural created by our good friend and client, Lisa Luevanos in Southwest Detroit. As she told the Detroit News:
Luevanos calls the viaduct mural Inspiración, or inspiration, in Spanish. Her inspiration was her mother and grandmother, both artists, and this mosaic is a fitting tribute to her roots. But she also hopes the piece will inspire everyone who passes by — and that’s a lot of people on this busy thoroughfare. “What I want you to take away is a moment of happiness,” she said. “When people look at it, it makes you happy.”
Congratulations on this fantastic gift to your community, Lisa!
